Success Stories from our Time BankMy Time Dollar Retirement by Rose Dakin

Every financial analyst will tell you that the key to successful investing is diversifying your assets. Your savings should be carefully invested in a mix of bonds, stocks, cash, gold and real estate.

I have decided to use my account at the Mendo Time Bank to supplement my retirement plan, because time is an overlooked investment, and my retirement will require a lot of other people’s time. Not only that, but the value of time has increased with less volatility and more predictability than any other asset in the traditional asset mix. I feel well diversified, now, thanks to the Mendo Time Bank.If you’re wondering how to squirrel away hours, one way people can earn Time Dollars is by working for the Time Bank. You can build up hours while helping the community that will support you when you’re old. I have also rented my car for time dollars, using about 50 miles per Time Dollar hour. I’m even thinking of starting an import-export business with felt dolls that I bought using some of my extra time dollars. I’m feeling rich, so am taking some risks. My retirement is still a long way off.

Book Club Meeting

Meet at Ollie’s house, 1158 W. Standley Street.

Please bring a book you’re interested in reading (if you have one) and a dish to share.  I’m making veggie pizza.  Please carpool as parking is limited.

Time is 6-8pm.

Also, please let me know if you are coming as I haven’t heard from many people and I’d like to have an idea…

If you’re not sure about joining a Book group, come and try it once!  Our plan is to get to know each other, eat, and choose a book.  I’m thinking reading a book a month is a worthy goal, especially with rainy months coming up.

Questions, call Ollie
367-8348 cell

Use these social events to get to know the other people offering their services for Time Dollars. We’re organizing them so you can meet each other, so please take advantage! There’s nothing like meeting other Time Bank members to stimulate our very own local, community building economy.
